Fromation and geologyLove Valley’s surreal landscape formed from ancient volcanic deposits laid down by Mount Erciyes and neighboring volcanoes. Over millions of years, wind and water erosion carved softer layers into towering pillars, often capped by harder basalt. The resulting “fairy chimneys,” some exceeding 40 m (130 ft) in height, vary in color from white and cream to rose-pink, shifting with the light throughout the day.
