This is a sacred spiritual ceremony, not a show. Modest, comfortable clothing is encouraged out of respect for the Dervishes and the ritual's deep cultural roots.
The ceremony is conducted in a contemplative atmosphere. Guests are kindly asked to remain quiet throughout, allowing everyone to fully absorb the spiritual energy of the Sema.

Why do the Dervishes spin and what does it symbolize?
The spinning motion of the Dervishes is not simply a dance, it is a deeply symbolic act. The right hand is raised toward the sky to receive divine grace, while the left hand points downward to share that grace with the earth. The white robe represents the ego's shroud, and the tall felt hat symbolizes its tombstone.
Is this experience suitable for children?
The ceremony is not recommended for children under 7 years old. Older children who can remain calm and quiet throughout are welcome to attend.
What language is the ceremony conducted in?
The Sema ritual itself is performed without spoken language, it is expressed entirely through movement, music, and devotional chanting.
Will there be seating throughout the ceremony?
Yes. All guests are provided with comfortable seating for the entire duration of the ceremony. You will never be required to stand.
Can I take photos or videos during the ceremony ?
Yes, photography and video are permitted, however flash photography is prohibited at all times during the ceremony out of respect for the performers and the sacred nature of the ritual.
How do I get to the venue if I don't select the transfer option?
If you choose the ceremony-only option without transfers, the Cappadocia Adventures team will provide you with the exact address and directions to the caravanserai upon booking confirmation. Taxi services and local transport from Göreme and surrounding areas are readily available.
